The Healthy Futures Youth Coalition (HFYC) Youth Advisor is part of a team that includes two Youth Advisors, the Healthy Futures Coalition (HFC) Program Specialist, and AmeriCorps VISTA members. HFYC Youth Advisors’ main role is to help plan and lead HFYC meetings (youth-only). HFYC Youth Advisors will use learning guides to help lead activities and support group discussions. They also serve on the Healthy Futures Coalition Steering Committee which is a small group of youth and adults who help guide the coalition, give feedback, plan HFC (youth and adult) meetings, and keep things on track. HFYC meetings take place twice a month and focus on building advocacy and community leadership skills to address youth substance use and mental health in the community. Healthy Futures Coalition meetings happen four times a year and bring youth and adults together to share ideas, learn from each other, and plan prevention strategies.
